I have come to the sudden realization that I am not seeing the forest right now because of all the trees. Are you familiar with that phrase?
Come on. I thought you were a learn-ed group of people who had some street smarts to boot. Think harder. I am sure you have heard it before.
For those of you who are completely lost in the world of idioms, here is the gist… Someone who can’t see the forest for the trees is someone who has completely missed the big picture because they were so caught up in the minute details of the situation.
That is me right now.
I have been so caught up with the idea of this weight plateau and with having not reached the 100 lbs lost mark that I have completely forgotten this…
This is what I used to look like when I weighed over 300 pounds.
And this is what I look like now. (probably even a bit more trim now…)
Oh, what a beautiful forest I have found.
I lost more than 80 pounds in less than a year. I am going to try and keep this in mind as I keeping pushing towards erasing the last 25 – 30 pounds that I want to lose.
Next week will be the 52nd week of my weight loss journey. That means one freaking year of life changing incredibleness. Folks, I feel better than I ever have and I am doing things I never thought I could. If I don’t lose another pound I will still have an incredible story of success to tell.
I want to encourage those of you who are struggling, stalling…failing. It is so worth it to keep on keeping on. You can do this.

yay! I love you! You are amazing and I am so proud of what you have accomplished this year!
You can do it! It’s taken me over a year to lose 65 lbs and I still have 30 to go as well. Sometimes I get discouraged and then I think about how I used to eat 6k cals and sit around all day…now I run, bike, walk, play basketball, etc etc.
Thank you! I needed to hear that.
Awwww!!! Good for you!
You’re doing great, brother. This whole thing is so much more challenging than I ever expected. Myself, I’m just living as healthy as I can and looking forward to my body reflecting that effort. What else can I do?
