Pics or It Didn’t Happen

I voted for Ron Paul today in the South Carolina Primary, and I don’t care what you think about it.

But this post isn’t about such trivial matters as civic duties and the voting and such of our Country’s leaders.

This post is about fitness and running. And what in the Free World could be more important than that? I propose that there is NOTHING more important. Not the economy, not gay marriage, not SOPA, not Pipa Middleton, not illegal fences built by people who work at Mexican restaurants on our borders.

Yesterday as I was heading home from work, I had a thought slip into my head. I have thoughts slip into my head from time to time, like the time I let my social media followers make the choice for me to go running outside. I am not sure why, but I thought to myself, “Self, today would be a good day to go home and try and best your 5K personal record on the treadmill.”

My best was around 33 minutes.

I went home. Put on my shoes. Headed upstairs. Took a deep breath. Stretched. I started my Polar FT4 and hit the treadmill on a 6 mph 10 minute mile pace. After 5 minutes I pushed it to 7 mph and did intervals between 6 and 7 for the next 15 minutes. For the next 9 minutes and 45 I pushed the pace and backed down doing 60 second intervals between 5 and 6 and 6 and 7 mph.

I am not sure if the math adds up, but I can tell you that the distance rolled 3.1 miles at 29:45 which of course bested my previous PR.

I felt so good that I went ahead and ran another mile and a half after.

So that felt pretty good to me.  Knowing that I had set out to break a personal record and then blowing it out of the water is pretty much the diggity.

But guess what.  I feel as though you have to take me at my word on this.

I sat down to write this post this evening before I had downloaded the pictures that I took of the treadmill screen with my phone. Hmmmm. Believe it or not, the pictures were NOT on my phone for some reason. I know that I deleted a bunch of pics last night.  I MUST HAVE accidentally deleted those.

Well. I guess I will have to best it again. And this time I will provide photo evidence.
