Weigh-In: Week 17 – The Week I Lost Some More Weight

Week of 08-26 through 09-01 in the year of our Lord 2011
This is the first weigh-in of the rest of my life. Here are the results for week 17:

Today: 276.2 lbs.
Last Week: 279.4 lbs.
Week Difference: -3.2 lbs.
Total Loss: 58.4 lbs.

So another decent loss this week.  And I did not workout at all this weekend.  Well, I sort of did on Saturday.  I played 18 holes of disc golf. Not exactly a high impact workout, but nonetheless it was me walking around for a couple of hours on hilly terrain whilst throwing objects around.  I guess it would have counted if I had used my heart rate monitor (HRM) and measured.  But whatevs.

I am going to be adding a couple of items to my little list up there over the next couple of weeks. I have really been wanting to add my % of body fat and % of lean mass to my regular schedule of items measured.  I have found a scale online that measures those things along with weight, because hey, what kind of scale doesn’t measure weight. Insert snark about snakes and fish having scales that don’t measure weight…

Here is another thing that happened this week. I was thinking that my little Sportsline Wal-Marts HRM wasn’t giving me an accurate measure of calories burned in my exercising.  I seem to burn an awful amount of calories in one 45-60 minute session and I have had some neigh-sayers call me out on it.  So maybe my little cheap HRM was lying to me.  Right? Well enter my brand spanking new Polar FT-4 heart rate monitor with chest strap. They are not paying me to mention them but maybe someone at corporate will read this and send me some duckets… I got my new HRM in the mail on Tuesday.  I entered my age, weight, height, first child’s name, social security, luggage combination, and all of the other stuff it asked for. I strapped up and hit the treadmill for 45 minutes.  I stayed within my target heart rate range the entire time. And it said I burned 771 calories.  That is about par for the course for me even from readings from the cheapo HRM I was using.  Say what you will haters, but the Polar takes into account all of the necessary details and should be pretty darn accurate.  I guess I am just a beast. That is all.

I hope to post more in the next few days. I always have a lot to say, but I never seem to have enough time to sit down and say it all!
