A break even weigh in on Thanxgiving week. I am ok with that for now. I think I am setting myself up for a big week next week. If I don’t have a big week next week then I will be upset.
I am actually glad that I broke even. It could have been worse.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving (hope you all had a great one) and I ate like a cow. A healthy cow that eats well, but a cow none-the-less. I logged all of my calories and did not go over but I know that I ate enough to throw the scale less than 24 hours later. I am thinking that if I had waited until Saturday I would have had a better weigh in, but hey, whatever.
Here is a triumph for Thanksgiving Day that should out-weigh (haha) all the food I ate. I had my first ever out of doors on-road and off-road run. I did not workout on Wednesday because I was trying to get everything ready to leave town that afternoon so the fam could go spend the night with my cousin and his youngun in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. So as I was packing up the car, I went ahead and threw in my workout clothes, shoes and heart rate monitor. I literally had the thought, “I will take it, but I doubt I will use it.” I thought, “Well maybe if my cuz has a treadmill, I will hit it for a little while…” I found out when I got to his house that he did not have a treadmill.
Well on Wednesday evening as I was telling everyone about my weight loss over a meal of Chicken Mole at the local Mexican place, I decided that I NEEDED to put in a workout on Thanksgiving Day. It was imperative that I not push it aside. But what was I going to do? There was no treadmill, and I am still very self-conscience about running in public. But then I remembered that I had signed up for the Rugged Maniac Mud Run in March. I guess I had better learn to not only run outside, but run off-road and get around obstacles. So that was it. I decided to run outside.
I got up around 6:30 am, put on my shorts, sleeveless sweat-wicking shirt, and my shoes and headed outside. Then I promptly turned around and headed back in because it was COLD! I didn’t have a long-sleeve shirt and I thought about cancelling because of it. My cousin said I could borrow one of his. Thanks man. Now I don’t have an excuse. He handed me a longsleeve t-shirt with his company logo (Yarborough Construction – need a building and live in the area? call him) and it was a size XL. Ah ha! It surely wouldn’t fit and I would be free from having to run! But guess what? It fit. Hmmm. Another milestone! Oh well. I have posted enough about wearing new sizes. So anyway I threw it on and headed out the door again.
I hit the pavement for 50 minutes, running both on the road, the sidewalks, across lawns, around the block, down beside the rail-road tracks, up through the middle of town, past the previously mentioned Mexican restaurant, and back. By the time I got back to the house, my legs were like rubber. But I actually think I could have gone a little further. I am guessing it was right around 4 miles, give or take. I also burned a lot more calories than I do normally when running on the treadmill. I think it fit in considering the rocky terrain.

I ate here one day. And then I ran to here the next.
I feel like this is a long post to say only a little, but hey, I am good at that. I also feel like it is taking away from the fact that I did not lose any weight this week. But I guess that focusing only on the scale is not always the best thing. The point is that I actually ENJOYED running outside, although I got up this morning and ran 4.5 miles on the treadmill and my legs are in pain tonight! But I ENJOY it!
Rock and roll.
Also, the name of my Rugged Maniac team is Team Beast Face. Come run with me.
Until next week’s weigh-in,
Remember that all is permissible but not all is profitable…
…
Be glad you broke even. I can only hope the same for me. Praying next Friday, my weigh in day will show me some mercy!v

Congrats on the outdoor run! I’m starting C25K tomorrow, and a bit nervous because I will be doing it on the treadmill. Central New York winters are far too cold. We’ll see how it goes, and I look forward to keeping up with your blog! 🙂
Good luck with C25K. If you follow it you will be running more than 5k before you know it!
