Weigh-In: Week 3 (5-26-2011)

Week of 05-20 through 05-26 in the year of our Lord 2011

This is the first weigh-in of the rest of my life. Here are the results for week 3:

05/26/2011 – 318.2 lbs.     -2 lbs.

That is 16.4 lbs overall

Well I lost another 2 pounds this past week.  I know a lot of you MAY have been impressed with the 10 pound loss over the first week, but I have learned a lot and realized that it was basically water loss.  For those of you who have the credentials to correct me, please do if I am wrong, but here is my understanding.

In the first couple of weeks of a drastic weight loss campaign, where you do something drastic to your diet and/or physical activity, you are basically shocking your body into submission (or at least trying to).  The loss that occurs in the first few weeks is usually water loss in your body. I have been a little bummed because I noticed over the past week that I really wasn’t losing weight, but rather hovering right around the 320lb mark plus or minus a few tenths of a pound.  I am typically one who demands instant gratification and I wanted to have 4 straight weeks of 10 pound losses.  Ha!  Well anyway I realize that my body is playing catch-up with my new dietary intake and physical activity.  It may even be hanging out to see if this is “for real” or if I will go back to a 4000-45000 calorie per day diet again.  Once it realizes that this is the way it’s going to be then it will start slowing shedding the fat.  I THINK that is how it works.  I HOPE that is what happens anyway.  Well cheers to you readers.  Thank you for the encouragement you have given me through emails, wall posts, texts, phone calls, carrier pigeons , and secret encoded messages on papyrus scrolls in ancient puzzle boxes (yes Ryan I got your cryptext…luckily I remembered you favorite Britney Spears songs was Toxic and that turned out to be the key to open the puzzle…)
